Small Business Market ‘26
On Saturday, February 28th, we hosted our second Small Business Market featuring Black-owned local businesses in honor of Black History Month. Harlem is home to so many incredible entrepreneurs, and we were proud to create a space where several of them could come together to showcase and sell their products to members of our community. The event was filled with a strong sense of community, support, and meaningful connection.
The market featured a variety of local businesses, including Becoming Unique, Bee Favored, Harlem Book Company, Go Figure, Millennium Art and Jewelry, Decadent Desserts, Tasty Lipss, and Beaded by Hope.
Becoming Unique is Harlem’s very own tea parlor specializing in curating experiences centered on self-care and wellness. Unique has created a welcoming space grounded in the belief that “the words I am are the smallest but most powerful words in the English language.”
Bee Favored is run by Theresa, an urban beekeeper who practices sustainability and operates a rooftop greenhouse. All of the raw honey is harvested directly from the rooftop hives. The business also specializes in honey jams made from fruits and vegetables sourced from farmers markets around the city.
Harlem Book Company is led by passionate owners Ale, Hadley, Joshua, and Charles who are dedicated to promoting literacy and sharing their love of books with the community. They aim to create a space where people can gather, connect, and celebrate a shared love of reading.
Go Figure, founded by Quincy, began with a single Black History T-shirt and has since grown into a clothing line that includes jerseys, athletic wear, sweat sets, and more.
Millennium Art and Jewelry and Decadent Desserts, created by Bertram and Judith Watson, have been serving the community since 1999, offering handcrafted jewelry alongside a variety of delicious sweets.
Tasty Lipss owner Shelesea aims to provide something for everyone, with products ranging from lip glosses and mascara to earrings and mirrors.
Beaded by Hope was created by Hope McGill with a mission to design custom waist beads for women of all shapes and sizes, celebrating beauty, confidence, and individuality.
Together, these vendors highlighted the creativity, talent, and entrepreneurial spirit that make Harlem’s small business community so special.
